As a result, we are strongly committed to supporting communities on a local and global level. This commitment is currently being demonstrated in financial support for three non-profit organisations:

Warriewood Surf Life Saving Club

Warriewood Surf Life Saving's mission is to:

Supply services that minimize danger and prevent the loss of life or injury to beach users;

Raise the skills and knowledge of the beach going public in areas of aquatic safety and recreation;

Be fully supportive of the authority on matters relating to beach and aquatic safety and management;

Raise the skills and knowledge of the beach-going public in areas of aquatic safety and recreation.

Greenfleet

Gordian Business takes its responsibility for the protection of the environment and the sustainability of its business very seriously. To help us in the fight against climate change we have partnered with Greenfleet. Greenfleet is the first not for profit forestry organisation in Australia to become an Approved Abatement Provider under the Australian Government's Greenhouse FriendlyTM initiative.

The planting undertaken by Greenfleet is of mixed species (biodiverse) native trees, specific to the area to be reforested. This means that the forests created not only soak up carbon but also help to reduce water table salinity and soil erosion and provide much needed habitat for native wildlife.

Opportunity International

Opportunity International is a not-for-profit international aid organisation that currently focuses its resources on Africa, Indonesia, The Philippines and India. Co-founded by Australian business man David Bussau, Opportunity International has worked tirelessly for over thirty years to enrich and improve the lives of global citizens suffering because of poverty and its effects.

Opportunity International is successful in its work because it gives the world's poorest people a hand-up through directed funds, rather than merely a hand out. As of September 2007, Opportunity International had 1,082,470 active clients globally and a loan portfolio of $498 million.

Local Action - Permaculture

As well as being leaders of negotiation, innovation and problem solving, the Gordian Team is dedicated to environmental sustainability. In order to address the crisis of environmental destruction and to mitigate its effects on current and future generations, Gordian Business has explored an environmentally sustainable form of design, known as Permaculture.

Developed by Bill Mollison and David Holgrem in the 1970s, Permaculture is a means of sustainable development, design and food production that can be exercised in any climate, with any culture. Permaculturalists seek to return food production to cities, minimise waste and maximise sustainable energy use.

Three core Permaculture values are: earthcare, people care and fairshare.

To date, two Gordian team members are certified Permaculture designers who would be happy to share their understanding with Gordian's clients. Stephen and Gillian have also recently purchased a property that is evolving into a productive Permaculture site.
